At least two eyewitnesses identified Albert Lee Blake in court as the man who drew a gun and opened fire inside a Church’s Chicken in November 2016.

Blake is charged with murder and attempted murder in the shooting that killed a young bride, Mirabel Ybanez, and seriously injured two other employees. Prosecutors say Blake shot the employees after being turned away for attempting to use a fake $ 100 bill.

On Tuesday, in the second week of Blake’s trial, a fourth employee inside the restaurant testified that she recognized Blake as the shooter. She was the only employee who was not hit by gunfire.

At the prosecution’s request, the judge handling the case ordered Blake to stand up in court and remove his face mask. It was then that the employee positively identified Blake as the shooter.

“I’ll never forget his look because every time I close my eyes I see that look. It’s just something about how he looks, how he shows no fear and how he looks that way, ”the worker said through an interpreter.

The judge also ordered the news media not to identify any of the witnesses.

Earlier today, the mother of a then 12-year-old girl also identified Blake in court. She told the jury that she was parked outside the restaurant when Blake opened fire. The mother said she could see her daughter inside the restaurant waiting for an order for food and when she looked at her phone she heard gunshots.

“I started hearing gunshots, because I looked up and didn’t see my daughter. I didn’t see her, I didn’t know what had happened to her, ”the mother said, fighting back tears.

The mother testified that she saw Blake enter and exit the restaurant and that she was about 20 feet from her parked car. After calling 911, she came in to help the injured workers.

“I saw blood everywhere. I could just hear people moaning. I asked if everyone was okay, and someone said no. I asked them how to lock the door, and if he was coming back, and I kept hearing them moaning, ”the mother said.

Throughout the trial, Blake’s defense attorney said none of the witnesses were able to identify facial features other than calling the shooter a “tall black man.”

Witnesses have always said the gunman was wearing a hoodie, Chargers beanie and sunglasses. However, the employee who was not hit by the gunfire testified that she remembered seeing Blake with sunglasses worn on his forehead, which helped identify him.
