December 29, 2021 // Franchising.com // SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – Southern Classic Chicken, a Louisiana-based fried chicken franchise, is expanding its presence in the southern United States. The brand announces its latest development agreement which will bring multiple locations to the New Orleans area.
The locations will be owned and operated by SCC Foods, LLC and Ikonik Restaurant Brands, LLC. Key behind these entities include David Halpern, a New Orleans-based lawyer and entrepreneur who has interests in multiple restaurant concepts and who brings valuable experience as a franchisee to the Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Smoothie King systems. Tom O’Keefe, Nick Binnings, Glen Armantrout and Casey Levy also invest with David, who add over 100 years of combined experience at the executive level.
“This development agreement is especially special for Tom and I,” said Nick Binnings, director of brand development for Southern Classic Chicken. “As members of the Southern Classic Chicken leadership team, we are excited to be making the transition to become franchise partners. We believe that working alongside our franchisees and having a close relationship with the brand’s founding family has provided us with the right ingredients to allow our new locations to thrive.
Binnings and O’Keefe helped lead Southern Classic Chicken’s recent launch of its franchise program deeply rooted in the restaurant operations and franchise space. Binnings has held a leadership role at Another Broken Egg Café and helps several growth brands through his Hammock Capital company, while O’Keefe has held leadership roles at Popeye’s / Church’s Chicken, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Smoothie King, among others. Binnings and O’Keefe have joined forces to help Southern Classic Chicken grow because of its incredible culture, quality and value.
“Given their track record, we have no doubt that David, Nick, Tom, Glen and Casey will successfully integrate Southern Classic Chicken into new communities,” said Alan Fanning, founding member of the Southern Classic Chicken family. “We couldn’t think of a better team to help us expand our presence in our home state of Louisiana. “
The new development agreement is slated to open its first location in the New Orleans area by fall 2022, with others to follow shortly thereafter. SCC Foods, LLC has set a goal of opening a minimum of 10 Southern Classic Chicken stores over the next five to seven years.
Southern Classic Chicken serves house-style fried chicken made with an exclusive marinade and batter, complemented by fresh side dishes inspired by its southern roots. The family-oriented brand is well known in northern Louisiana for its fried chicken and its great price where an average meal ranges from $ 5 to $ 7. Sourcing the freshest ingredients and products possible is the top priority so that the brand can deliver the “absolute best” to its customers at a better price and value than its competitors.
